Life Changes—Locks of Love

A very personal way to change a life…donate your hair to Locks of Love.  I think this is such a beautiful and unselfish way to share a part of you with someone else.  Here is a little information from their website:

Locks of Love is a public non-profit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children in the United States and Canada under age 21 suffering from long-term medical hair loss from any diagnosis. We meet a unique need for children by using donated hair to create the highest quality hair prosthetics. Most of the children helped by Locks of Love have lost their hair due to a medical condition called alopecia areata, which has no known cause or cure. The prostheses we provide help to restore their self-esteem and their confidence, enabling them to face the world and their peers.

I’ve know several girls and women who have made this very generous sacrifice, and continue to do so on a regular basis.  My daughter and my niece have both donated hair to Locks of Love…tweens seem to really enjoy this.

If you are interested in cutting and donating your hair, be sure and read the donation guidelines here.  Happy cutting…happy donating….happy changing!

  1. Hair is something both personal and emotional for many of us. Make sure you understand how the hair will be used, who will benefit and the requirements for making a donation. Definitely, organizations like this are going to be happy with your sacrifice but always think that, this kind of sacrifice will be a great help to those people out there.
