Thrift Store Thursday (or Friday)—Misc. Boutique

A couple of weeks ago I wrote about The Green Ant, a thrift store in SLC that features mid-century modern furniture and design. I love that place…but I love it even more because it is connected to another little gem, Misc. (pronounced missy) Boutique. I was instantly attracted to the décor…quirky lighting, vintage dress forms, time card and letter mobiles, but the best part of the store is the merchandise and the prices. In the owner’s words,

the inventory is constantly changing but the focus is always the same: wearability, quality & detail at ridiculously affordable prices. vintage and current—all previously adored.

I was also quite taken with the shop owner who spent at least 30 minutes with me talking about how she selects her merchandise (travels around the country), supports her downtown shopping community (SLC Gallery Stroll), and her commitment to sell lovely things at lovely prices. In fact “lovely” describes the entire experience at Misc. Boutique…lovely atmosphere, lovely conversation, lovely things. I am definitely sold!

Here are a few photos of some of my favorites:

I had a hard time deciding what to buy and I know I will be back often, but the day I was there was dark and rainy, so I chose this watercolor cardigan and turquoise scarf. I love the combination of red and turquoise in the cardigan, the button details are beautiful, and the scarf reminds me of my grandma.

The cardigan is so soft and I can’t help but feel happy when I wear it…especially because I got both pieces for $24! You can find something equally as wonderful, or many things equally as wonderful. I’m about ready to go again…anyone want to come?

You can like Misc. Boutique on Facebook or even better, visit it at 272 So. 200 E. SLC, UT, M-Sa 11:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
